Dear Parents,
Osaka YMCA International School is very much aware as we begin a new school year that a significant number of Influenza A (H1N1) infections have now been reported in Japan. OYIS is carefully monitoring the situation and is liaising with the Osaka YMCA and the Osaka City Government. In the meantime the school remains open and will follow a normal schedule, including ESS and OYIS After-School Clubs.
Please click here to read about what measures are being implemented regarding the present situation.
- All persons entering the school each morning may use the alcohol hand wash provided.
- Students are asked to wash their hands frequently during the day and wear masks if necessary.
- At home students can also gargle.
- If a student develops a fever during the school day the school will contact the parents.
- If a student, or any family member, becomes ill at home consult with your local health office, inform the school and do not send your child to school (even if your child does not display any symptoms).
- If a student is confirmed as having Influenza A (H1N1) a doctor’s letter certifying that the child is free of the virus must be given to the Office on the first day back to school.
- Early signs of influenza A (H1N1) are flu-like, including fever, cough, headache, muscle and joint pain, sore throat and runny nose, and sometimes vomiting or diarrhea.
- If OYIS has to close a class, or the entire school, then information will be sent to parents via letter and the emergency telephone tree. Please make sure that the school has your correct contact number. Information will also be posted on the OYIS homepage under “Information”, “Emergency Info”.
