Preschool Program
The preschool program is for children over 3 years old who desire a western approach to their early education, but may plan to continue in the Japanese education system, or perhaps with the YMCA International School. This program is run as a part of the International School, using our curriculum and educational philosophy, and taught by instructors directed by the International School.
We accept students anytime of the
year. There are three marking periods, September to November,
December to March, and April to June. The school day starts at
9:00 am and finishes at 1:30 pm from Monday to Friday. A full day
school program is available for an additional charge.
Program Highlights
In the preschool we emphasize social / emotional development and self-help skills. Children learn a daily routine and how to function as a responsible member of a group. Learning to take care of one's belongings, entering play situations constructively, settling disagreements peacefully and learning to share are all goals of these children. Learning is experiential, and uses a variety of manipulatives and tactile experiences.
Application
If you are interested in this program, please contact Osaka YMCA International School for more information and an application form, or download an application form here. Your child can start anytime after they turn three years old, but both space and class size are limited.
