Welcome to OYIS

Welcome to the Osaka YMCA International School website! Since our foundation in 2001, OYIS remains the only WASC accredited international school in the City of Osaka. With the support of Osaka City Government and the Osaka YMCA, OYIS strives to be a leading provider of international education for the citizens and residents of Osaka and its environs. OYIS is also a candidate school for the Primary Years Program. The school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, challenging, and international education that OYIS believes is important for our students.

In keeping with the overall YMCA philosophy of ‘Caring; Honesty; Respect; and Responsibility’ and in line with our Core Beliefs, OYIS provides a rigorous, challenging and developmentally appropriate educational experience. Our Preschool to Grade 6 student body, housed in a modern facility, led by a team of dedicated and qualified teachers, and supported by their parents, actively engages in life-long learning in a school environment, which is the words of our school motto, is a place ‘where learning comes to life.’
