Primary Years Programme

Primary Years Programme

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) at OYIS is authorized by the famous International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization. The PYP at OYIS covers from preschool to grade 6. As children progress through the programme, they become very powerful thinkers, caring classmates and responsible citizens. They learn how to ask interesting questions about many subjects. They learn how to systematically and creatively explore those questions to develop academic expertise, and they learn to evaluate what they discover. In the final year of the PYP (grade 6), students undertake a major research project then present their findings to the school community. The PYP is a powerful journey that lays the foundation for students’ future success both in school and out.

Fantastic Education

There are many pathways to advanced academic and social skills. In inquiry-based PYP education, students learn to ask questions, explore subjects and find and share answers. They learn to work individually and in teams to achieve academic success. They also learn to reflect on what they’ve done and consider their pathways forward.

Expert Teachers

Inquiry-based education is much harder to teach than normal education. We work hard to find and keep the best international education teachers. OYIS teachers are passionate, friendly and very knowledgeable. You can trust them to help shape your child’s future in a way that few other schools in the region can.

IB Primary Years Programme

The PYP curriculum

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children aged 3 - 12 nurtures and develops young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning.Through its inquiry-led, transdisciplinary framework, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts.

What are the benefits of the PYP?

The PYP is a transformative experience for students, teachers and whole school communities. PYP students learn how to take control of their learning, teachers collaborate to deepen student- learning and increase their confidence and self-motivation. The whole school community, including parents, are viewed as partners in learning, and actively contribute to a holistic educational experience
